Actor Kamal Haasan Welcomes the new producer's association with open arms.

At a time when corona has spelt trouble to Kollywood with shootings cancelled and theatres shut, war of words and infighting among producers have taken centre stage. While the Tamil Film makers Association is been encumbered due to the legal affairs, the election of the Producers Association has been postponed indefinitely. Meanwhile a few days ago, a section of Tamil film producers announced kicking off an association named “Tamil Film Active Producers Association” spearheaded by eminent director Bharathiraja.

While several producers are daunted with the new body, they have been protesting and questioning the need for a new association. Bharathiraja recently published a statement that the new association is formed with a view to protecting the interest of active film producers, whose requirement for producing, marketing, distributing and managing their film business requires much higher focus and attention post pandemic crisis.

Meanwhile, Veteran producer Kalaipuli S Thanu has requested senior director Bharathiraja not to break the Tamil Film Producers Council. Actor-politician Kamal Hassan has come forward to support the new union and thanking Kamal Haasan, Bharathiraja tweeted: “Kamal Haasan’s support is a great encouragement to all of us. We are planning to move ahead from the existing hurdles and it’s good to know that a senior actor like Kamal Haasan welcomes our idea of forming the new association for the active producers, which is the need of the hour”
