Actress Jyotika moves ahead of the curve amidst criticism as she lends her hand to renovate the Tanjavore Government Hospital

Actor Suriya is one of the most humble and down to earth celebrity in Kollywood. An avowed feminist, Jyothika plans to fuse her philanthropic efforts with those of her husband, and has donated a whopping amount of 25 lakhs to the Thanjavur Government hospital for the betterment of the healthcare facility during COVID-19 outbreak.

 
Earlier an old video of Jyothika landed in controversy, triggering a communal narrative when the actress while she was addressing the audience during an event pointed out that while shooting for Raatchasi, she visited the Thanjavur hospital which was appalling and the actress pointed out that hospitals should be treated equal to that of temples.

Although people of all religions have welcomed the idea, several netizens slammed her in social media. Days after the video went viral and landed in controversy, Suriya took to Twitter to express his views in support of his wife. In a well-articulated and a strongly worded statement, Suriya responded that ,” “We would like to teach our children that humanity is more important than religion. Good intentions will lead to good deeds,”  and released a statement titles, “Lets sow love” to stand by his wife.

 
During the pandemic crisis the actress has donated Rs. 25 lakhs to the Health Minister C Vijayabhaskar to revamp and enhance the medical facilities at the paediatric ward at Tanajavur medical hospital. Her gesture has been lauded by all and n behalf of Jyotika, the medical equipment was provided by the film director Ira Saravanan to the Minister of Health, Hon’ble Vijayabaskar. “Jyotika, the help you have done is immense. Appreciable. Thank you on behalf of the government, ”said Minister Vijayabaskar. Thanjavur District Collector Mr. Govindrao said, “I bow my head to the social concern of Jyotika.” “Thank you to Jyotika for donating 25 lakh rupees for the benefit of mothers and children. Jyotika’s help is a perfect example of how effective it can be when people contribute to government programs. ” Said the Chief Minister of Tanjore Medical College Hospital, Mr. Maruthurai.
