Mugen Rao’s debut film titled “Vettri” ; First look unveiled
Mugen Rao who grabbed everyone’s attention in the last season of Bigg Boss Tamil is all set to foray into the Tamil film industry. Yes, his debut film as a lead actor will be directed by Anjana Ali Khan of Veppam fame. Divya Bharathi who plays the female lead in GV Prakash’s Bachelor will be paired opposite Mugen Rao. The first look of the film has been unveiled by the production house Shridi productions and the film is titled “Vettri”.
Speaking about the project Anjana says, “It is a story of a boy’s journey through his life. There are two forces that are at play – the circumstances he was born into, which include the economic deprivation and humiliation that comes with that, and the will of his mother. The film delves into the choice he would make – will he choose a path of violence or fulfill his mother’s vision.” Speaking about Mugen’s character , the director said, “It is rooted in reality, though. Everyone would have gone through some level of clashes with others in their lives. Not everyone will have it easy, right? Even though it is packed with action, it is not an irresponsible telling of the story. I am well-aware of the power cinema has and the impact on our audiences. In that sense, it will be realistic. As such, it is compatible with the character of the character. Mugen Rao has proven that while he can easily handle emotions, he can also do action scenes easily. Speaking about the lead roles Anjana said, “Anukerthi Vaas is the only actress from Tamil Nadu to win the Miss India title 2018. The one who makes the place shine, the hard worker. I am sure everyone will appreciate her performance in the film. She is not only beautiful and talented but also speaks Tamil very fluently. I consider it a great privilege for us.
The director felt overwhelmed of the technical crew and went on to share more information and said, “I am proud to have some of the best Tamil technical artists working on this film. I have 25 years of acquaintance with cinematographer Randy Ratnavelu and Antony. It is a great pleasure for them to join the film “Vettri”. Upon hearing the script of the film, the two agreed to work on the film because the screenplay had a lot of opportunities to create many innovations in their fields with the ability to easily attract fans. Ratnavelu is one of the best cinematographers in India. Endhiran, who has gained attention in India, has done cinematography for films like Saira Narasimha Reddy. He is currently working on Kamal Haasan’s highly anticipated film “Indian 2”. While working on great films he respects art and never fails to work on quality short films. She worked in the Telugu film Kumari 21F, a very small budget film. Rajinikanth, making such short films in the interval of working with great personalities like Maheshbabu, is a great role model for today’s generation of cinematographers. We are proud that he worked on our film.”

Anjana says that Mugen was her first choice for the lead role. She says, “He comes across as an easy going and charming person. I thought he’d be apt for the role. Anukreethy plays a feisty and an interesting role. Anupama Kumar essays the mother’s character and Kishore plays the father’s role. Both of them have a strong presence in the film.” Randy handles the cinematography, while Nivas Prasanna will score music for the film. “We will begin shooting next Monday. The entire film is set in Chennai. We will be taking all safety measures owing to the current situation,” says Anjana, who is happy to be back after a short hiatus.
