Namma Veettu Pillai emerged as a towering success at the box office. The Sivakarthikeyan starrer impressed the family audiences with its solid content, which had entertainment and emotional factors intact. Now, after enjoying a fabulous run in theatres, the Pandiraj directorial is all set to make its online premiere. Sivakarthikeyan’s Namma Veetu Pillai (NVP), produced by leading production house Sun Pictures and distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant movies. Sivakarthikeyan is teamed up with director Pandiraj for the third time; this is a combination that gave us Marina (2012) and Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga (2013).
Pandiraj’s Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Namma Veettu Pillai created a wave in rural and semi urban areas in Tamil Nadu, by collecting more than the multiplexes-dominated 50 Crs. The biggest success of Namma Veettu Pillai is Pandiraj’s flawless writing and his ability to authentically represent the relationship woes among the families that exist in rural areas of Tamil Nadu. While his blockbuster Kadai Kutty Singam had a few over the top melodramatic scenes, Pandiraj has found a perfect balance between cinematic liberty and realistic portrayal in Namma Veettu Pillai. The boy next door Sivakarthikeyan also shined both as an actor and a star in the film which is filled with a huge star cast. The movie features actors including Aishwarya Rajesh, Bharathiraja, Soori, Vela Ramamoorthy, Anu Emmanuel, Natty, Naren, and Subbu Panchu. A big fat family drama, set in a rural milieu with commercial ingredients, was released in 2019 and as it clocks one year the director pens down a heartfelt note on his social media handle.
